Working on That Action Plan for the Deliverable

It is that time of the project where I really need to plan out what I am doing in the next twelve weeks. These really are the final twelve weeks. I am stressed out, but I am looking forward for this to end.

I am starting to realise that my deliverable is more demanding than I thought. I still have to do some more research regarding app / web design and what is the best approach to develop this language tool. In addition, I need to read through all the survey results and speak to the creator of the website ikteb.mt – a website with grammar notes for Maltese language. In addition, I realised that I would need to come up with a name for the app / website. The name of this existing website is quite smart – it literally translates to ‘write’, and since it is aimed for non-Maltese speakers, it has to either be named in English OR find a word that is in Maltese that is equally smart and easy to read.

So, what I did for the time being was collate a sort of inventory of things I need to find/do/learn to get this project going. Hopefully, this would help me in planning a much better plan that I can follow and produce a deliverable fit for a Final Major Project.

The Plan before The Action Plan

• Decide whether it’s going to be an app OR a website
  • If app:
    • looks more professional
    • I would need to look into app design
      
  • If website:
    • Design mobile first – more accessible
    • HOWEVER: I need to be able to create a legit prototype –> programming??
      
• Look up the language curriculum (and syllabus?) for Maltese language teaching.
• Look up “Phrase books”
  
• Define aims and objectives of the deliverable (USES).
  • What the tool will feature.
    • Bilingual presentation of the Maltese language.
    • Provide a ‘copy’ of the children’s textbooks / homework for parents.

  • To include: a translation function
  • A dictionary
    • “request a textbook translation?”
      
  • Split it according to school year?? –> ask on “Kelmet il-Malti” (Facebook group) for info regarding schoolbooks + syllabus also “who chooses the schoolbooks?”

• BINGE WATCH SKILLSHARE
  • Look at UI design for language apps / sites.
• Define the structure of how to present the content logic and stuff. –> wireframing

• I need to come up with a name and brand

As for May Break and Preliminary Plan

With May break approaching, I need to take full advantage of the fact that the course is on pause, so that I can catch up on all this. I definitely need to prioritise the introduction of the Critical Report as well as mood-boarding of the project. Also, as far as things are looking for the time being, I would like to have the bulk of the app/website concept done by end of June. Also, I must not forget the usual PDF document. Roll over May break I guess…
